About the earthquake on January 1st

As many of you may already know, a significant earthquake occurred on January 1st in the Noto Peninsula region of Japan. Even in Tokyo, we felt substantial tremors.

The affected areas have experienced immense damage. Moreover, tragically, the following day saw a major accident involving aircraft providing disaster relief at a Tokyo airport.

In Japan, January 1st holds significance akin to Christmas or Thanksgiving in the United States and other countries. It's a day when families come together, work comes to a halt, and peace reigns. Amidst such a context, this sizable disaster has been truly shocking.

It brought back memories of a major earthquake thirteen years ago. However, it also reminded us of the widespread support and kind words from people mobilizing for disaster relief efforts worldwide.

While our capacity as a small store is limited in the face of such a massive disaster, we would like to contribute a small portion of our store sales to aid in the region's recovery.

We have decided that the sales in January 2024, for every pair of slippers sold, we will donate $3 USD to the Japanese Red Cross for disaster relief efforts. It's a modest amount, but we hope it can be of some assistance.

Our store's customers mainly reside outside Japan, including in the United States. We are deeply grateful for everyone's support, which allows us to take such actions.

Thank you very much.

For details on where donations will go, please find them below.

Despite the somber news that has marked the start of the New Year in Japan, may this year be a good one for all of you!

Thank you very much!
