In Japan and other East Asian regions, there is a custom of bringing out new footwear in the New Year.
At the end of the year, we buy new shoes, slippers, and other footwear.
And, in the New Year, we put on this new footwear.
I do not know why such gentle tradition is still deeply rooted in our culture.
But I rather think that it is an important custom which helps us refresh our mind and feelings to face the new challenges in the new year and to encourage us to step forward into the future.
Why don't you welcome the New Year with new slippers?
