The Story Behind Our Tatami

Our slippers are made using authentic Japanese materials from regions renowned for traditional craftsmanship. The upper is crafted from durable Hiroshima denim, while the footbed features genuine Japanese-grown Igusa—the natural rush traditionally used to make tatami flooring. Unlike ordinary tatami, we use only the finest upper portion of each Igusa stem. This premium section creates a smoother texture, a finer weave, and a more comfortable feel underfoot. Each pair is handmade in small batches in Japan, allowing us to focus on quality rather than mass production. Our goal is simple—to share the comfort and beauty of Japanese indoor living with people around the world.

The Igusa used in our slippers is grown in Kumamoto, Japan. Excellent quality and solid construction. The denim and wool felt sole feel durable and well made. Craftsmanship from Hiroshima shows care and precision. The pair runs too big for my feet. A smaller size would fit better. An exchange option for a smaller pair would help. Overall quality stands out and meets expectations.

Very comfortable and provide great support. The tatami is excellent quality as is the denim/fabric on the upper part of the slipper. I wear these every day in my apartment and they are super reliable and haven't worn down at all. I appreciated the hand written note included with the delivery. Uncommonly high-quality slippers that were clearly made with care.

このスリッパが好きですけれど、靴下を履いていると足が滑りやすいです。また、靴底は硬い床の上も少し滑りやすいです。多分あと数週間履いたら、グリップ力は向上するでしょう。 とりあえず、滑って転ばないように注意しなければなりません。次回は普通（たたみなし）スリッパを買おうと思います。なのに、このスリッパが好きで、満足しています。
